Shooting some of her favourite pieces from our new collection, Frederika put her minimal styling spin on our cosy winter separates and outerwear.
We managed to catch Frederika pre-lockdown to chat about her unique career journey, how she became a content creator and the secret to layered dressing for Melbourne weather.
Q: Tell us about your personal style? What are your wardrobe staples?
A: I love minimal styling. My wardrobe staples for an Aussie winter are a good pair of jeans, black boots (preferably a little higher than ankle length as you can style them with both dresses and pants) and a few cosy, high quality knits.
I like to stick to my staple, everyday jewellery and I have a few favourite shoes and bags on rotation.
I am ALWAYS freezing so I like to keep a jacket nearby. I’m loving this year’s shackets. They’re not too bulky so they are easy to layer with.
Q: Being based in Melbourne, you must be an expert in layering. What are your tips to create the perfect layered look?
A: I like to layer with similar shades and colours and switch up the texture. For example, teaming a creamy knit with a white shirt underneath, then layering over with a white patterned shacket. Different textures to give shape and depth but still in the same tonal palette.
Another good tip is to play with silhouette and go a little oversized with something more fitted underneath. There are just so many possibilities!
Q: Can you tell us about becoming a content producer and influencer? We can definitely see your passion for all things style and photography, what career path lead you here?
A: My career looks very different from how I imagined it. I did my masters in Political Economy so I always aimed to work in the public sector but life doesn't always happen the way you plan it. Through my social media journey as a yoga teacher which, started over 6 years ago it slowly developed into what it is today. One of my biggest passions is photography so I’m envisioning in the future I will position myself behind rather than in front of the camera.
Q: We are big fans of your signature minimal style and the way you incorporate classic pieces with trending styles. What trends are you loving for this season?
A:Chunky boots are sticking around for another year which I love, as well as all the luxe ‘work from home’ loungewear popping up. I’m seeing more oversized coats and jackets, I love the ones at Forever New.
Q: For our final question, we’d love to hear about the best life lesson you’ve learnt throughout your journey?
A: Stop worrying what everyone else does. They're on their path, you're on yours - and don't take everything so personally! Not everyone is supposed to ‘get’ your vision, so find your people and uplift each other.
