Australia’s biggest celebration of the arrival of spring, Floriade Festival, kicked off in mid-September and runs until mid-October. Jemma Mrdak from A Stylish Moment attended the event with a few of her best girlfriends last weekend. Here, she shares a few of her favourite ways to start the spring season.
Enjoy an outdoor picnic
Nothing says ‘spring’ quite like getting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather with a picnic. Keep the spread super simple – think a delicious cheeseboard, bread sticks, fresh berries, a homemade quiche, and a few bottles of sparkling.
Explore your city
Your local city will come alive in spring. Each state in Australia has their own unique take on an event to celebrate the start of spring. Jemma lives in Canberra, where the annual Floriade festival takes place every September. The festival celebrates the onset of spring with 30 days of blooms, food, and entertainment at Commonwealth Park, Canberra.
Celebrate with friends
Sunshine and social events go hand-in-hand. After a long winter, there is something about the change in temperature that makes you want to spend countless hours outside with friends. A long walk, a picnic with friends, afternoon drinks – refresh yourself by making the most of time spent with friends.
Discover the newest spring trends
Spring constitutes the start of warmer days, and with this comes invitations to Christmas parties, garden soirees, and end of year celebrations. It is no surprise, therefore, that spring is a great time to overhaul your wardrobe and make way for the newest trends in event dressing in your wardrobe. Large-scale floral blooms, pretty pastels, and bold bright hues, all have their place in the warmer months.
